A Call for Nominations for the 25th Annual BBPA Harry Jerome Awards
Toronto – January 9, 2007 The Black Business and Professional Association (BBPA) is accepting nominations for its 25th Annual BBPA Harry Jerome Awards.
One of the most prestigious national events in Canada, the BBPA Harry Jerome Awards recognize and celebrate excellence in achievement in the African Canadian community and pay tribute to Harry Jerome, an outstanding African Canadian Olympic athlete, scholar and social advocate who inspired pride and excellence in the African Canadian community and Canadian society. Over 1,000 people attend the Awards each year.
Throughout its 24-year history, the BBPA Harry Jerome Awards has honoured numerous outstanding and inspirational African Canadians, such as former lieutenant governor of Ontario Lincoln Alexander, Senator Donald Oliver, entrepreneurs Denham Jolly and the late Beverley Mascoll, human rights advocate and former M.P.P the late Dr. Rosemary Brown, renowned jazz pianist Oscar Peterson, playwright Djanet Sears and Olympic gold medallist Donovan Bailey.
Awards will be presented in thirteen categories: ²Academics² Arts Media & Entertainment, ² Athletics² Business ² Community Service² Health Sciences² Leadership² Lifetime ² Achievement² President’s Award² Professional Excellence² Technology and Innovation ² Trailblazer Award ² Young Entrepreneur Award. The BBPA Harry Jerome Awards are open to nominees aged 16 and older from across Canada .

The 25th Annual BBPA Harry Jerome Awards will be held at the Toronto Congress Centre, 650 Dixon Rd. Toronto , Ontario on Saturday April 28th, 2007.
